Build Up Hi Guys, Two attack-minded sides will lock horns on this evening when Southampton host Huddersfield. So, this is going to be a bit of a tough cookie but a good bonus waits if we do win the game. This is a 6 pointer match like the next on Saturday against Leeds and Tuesday against Swindon. If Saints beat Huddersfield and the rest, we should dent there winning tempo and maybe stall them a bit for our play off benefit. It's sometimes strange that we need to concede a goal to shift gear. It's like with a goal down we sniff on the smelling salts, wake-up and go on the gas. Now, I've heard today that we've got stickers Ricky 26 goals, Lee 21 goals, competing for the teams golden boots!! Must I remind these two that they are not to leave out home product starlet Adam Lallana who has managed 14 so far this season. Boss Alan Pardew is unlikely to make changes after watching his side rack up their biggest win of the season in Saturday's 5-1 success against Walsall. However, Dan Seaborne could play in the second half as his injury wasn't as bad as thought and he has started training this week. We need to return the favour, to tame the Terries a bit tonight, after they 'Waltz' around us at Galpharm Stadium 3-1, so, let's square things out Saints!! Tonight we will see Neil Trotman playing for Huddersfield after starting 19 games for the Saints this season, hope he's warned his mates we have got quite good till then.... We are playing a 4-4-2 formation and our 2 top guns are up front ready to attack and extend their records. Kick-off: We are playing from left to right and the crowd are really playing there part singing on, we all know how important this game means for us Saints for the playoff hopes to remain alive. First 10mins we are the better team although neither of the goalers didn't have anything special to do yet.
Goal. R.Lambert scores his 5 goal at home in a row, with a cross from Puncheon from the line and heads in the ball for his 27th goal of the season. 15mins 1-0 J.Rhodes makes a bit of a threat and it's cleared by our defence on the second try. 20mins. Goal. L.Barnard scores from a super cross with a fantastic header in part of a corner action. Wow... we are making the Terries look so ordinary!! 24mins. 2-0 We are being a total class in this half and are giving Huddersfield a real football lesson till now. A very solid performance. Well done Saints, COYR. Good play from Harding which puts L.Barnard in play and misses wide from the right hand side. Goal. J.Puncheon scores!! This is incredible. He bends the ball, drills it in the bottom left, from 18 yards and it goes in beautifully. 3-0 33mins. R.Lambert gives a magnificent strong free kick which causes Smithies to make a fantastic save which ends up as a corner. Impressive strike from Lambert's left foot. 35 yards out.
First half - And what a half, it's the most one sided half you would ever see, we are unstoppable at the moment, this is magic!! We have loads of confidence at the moment and are on a high. The crowd are loving every minute of the game. Second Half - No changes for the Saints and I guess no need leading 3-0 at first half. Let's see if we make a new score line record tonight. Huddersfield have come out for us in this half but we are solid and don't intent to conceive a goal... those days are over! Puncheon scores from a corner but it's disallowed because of a foul from D.Hammond on a Huddersfield defender. Then Puncheon from another piece has another try on goal and the ball goes a bit wide. 55mins Puncheon takes another corner and I must admit I've lost count of the corners our team has had (should be the 9th) and M.Schinderlin goes very close in scoring but Smithies denies him of his first goal for the Saints this season.
Then Fonte from a flick on from Lambert's head off a corner nearly scores but it goes 2 yards out for his first goal for the Saints. 72mins D.Hammond flicks the ball in the net past the goaler and scores when with a wicked corner from Puncheon again. Credit to Puncheon that has been so good and involved in each goal tonight fantastic. 75mins Change, Lee Barnard is off and Papa Waigo is on. A.Pardew is resting some, key players for the coming up games. R.Lambert passes a clinical ball an assist pass to Waigo which is one on one with a defender and then on Smities but goes around and scores, fantastic. 5-0 Change, Puncheon is off and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on. This boys only 16 years old and looks like a Theo Walcott and let's hope he's as good as him!! 4mins of added time and this is unbelievable our biggest win. Full Time A fantastic job for all the team. I can't pick out a man of the match because everyone was massive and done a tremendous job, well done Saints!! Victor |
