Build Up

Hi Red and White Army,
Saints are marching on as they have produced their second five-star display in the last four days to reignite their play-off hopes in a comprehensive 5-0 mauling of play-off hopefuls Huddersfield. Although, the gaffer has said it wouldn't be the end of the world if we don't make it and it would actually make us better then bad, but we nearly all wish that we actually go back to Championship (even just to play against Portsmuff!!)

Although, A.Pardew must be tempted to play David Connelly the best decision was taken to leave him home and maybe feature in the game against Leeds next Saturday. Lee Holmes and winger Lloyd James are still side lined with injures and the team looks like to be the same as the one featured in the last couple of days.

Preston Park is the Rovers den and is one of those grounds that have stalled our promotion push so many times in the past so, the Saints need to tackle this problem and show that playing on home turf, away pitches, muddy grounds, rugby shared grounds or Wembley Stadium we have the will and knowhow to score and score big from all over the ground.

Tranmere boss Les Parry admits his side faces a stern test on Saturday when free-scoring Saints come to town.

Kick off - The weather's a bit cloudy and there's a bit of a drizzle felt. Christ Temple and Dave Merington are today's commentators and they are pleased with the pitch surface and that's a bonus for the team. Over 1,000 Saint Supporters have made the 5hour drive to Preston Park hoping to see the Saints pull a good away performance. The Saints with their yellow and blue away kits are playing from left to right against the white and blue Rovers.

Inside the first 3mins a free kick from a foul by Fonte is given the lead to Tranmere, when Broomes scores with a header. 1-0 This dents our good defensive record.

Saints are settling the game at the moment and this could be a deja vow of Walsall game.

Goal! 10mins on the clock Lallana strikes a good try on goal which rebounds of the goaler Daniels and Lee Barnard scores his 6th goal in 5 games. 1-1

A good ball's crossed from Puncheon when he goes down the left hand side and crosses the ball in front of the goal and Lallana incredibly misses to put it in a goes wide. A good chance lost 18mins.

We are moving confidently at the moment and are creating chances and the confidence can be felt by the way we are playing but we need to find that second goal.

Saints have had good periods and dominated the game but have lost a couple of chances we should be something like 1-3 at this time but let's hope second half will bring us more goals.

1min of added time.

First Half - A.Pardew should be happy with the team but must make it clear that we need a win nothing less!

Second Half - No changes made by either of the teams. The lights are switched on and the second half begins.

Till now the game has lacked a bit of flow as the ref has whistled a couple of times and we need to keep pushing on and eventually the goals will come. 52mins

It's a scrappy game at the moment let's hope that the Saints don't sleep on us not much to report apart from Huddersfield are losing 2-0!

Rickie Lambert gives a fantastic free kick far out about 35 yards and it goes slightly wide from the post.

We are not playing as good as we were in the first half. We must be careful and start creating more.

Change Dan Seaborne is on Dan Harding is off. 66mins.

Saints best chance in the second half comes when Lallana kicks the ball directly in Daniels reach and saves. Damn!

Then Thomas More runs along with the ball and comes one on one with K.Davis which makes a fantastic save coming off his line.

We've lost our momentum and some changes need to take place bring on Papa Waigo, A.Pardew.

Lee Barnard goes through with a good run and goes close and Daniels makes another fine save. 77mins.

We are pushing and our team is coming a bit to life, at last.

Double substitution - Papa Waigo is on for Lee Barnard is off and M.Antonio is on A.Lallana is off. Let's hope that these changes are not too little to late.

Damn!! We conceive a dubious soft penalty from Puncheon and T.Moore gives it and scores 2-1. 82mins.

Come on Saints!! Then Fonte is brought down in the opposite box and is given a yellow card. This ref. is a nightmare.

4mins of extra time. Rovers have played better than us in this half and we never really capitalized in the second half.

Full Time. It's all over, we have thrown this game away and the pitch wasn't the problem this time. Can't blame anyone apart from ourselves and maybe the ref. We would have closed the gap to 11 points from play off positions but never took the opportunity given to us.

Victor
