Subs: Ince, Weston, Sansara, Hughes, Jones, Bradley, Adkins. Build Up A.Pardew can welcome back midfielder M.Schinderlin from a knee injury and defender Dan Seaborne. The influential midfielder has been struggling with a knee injury but will return to the Saints starting eleven as boss Alan Pardew targets back-to-back home wins to keep their faint play-off hopes alive. The bad news is that we are still missing Lloyd James and David Connolly (both ankle) which are still a fortnight away from a return. Midfielder Jason Puncheon is poised to do his first home debut and should have a warm welcome at St.Mary's. Both sides have lined up 4-4-2 which should suite Saints. Kick Off Saints 0-1 Walsall, With the 1st attack of the game from a set piece currled a great ball past Davis after 2min by Richards. Lallana almost immediatly got one back within a min, Saints really pushing hard and its only 3 min after they scored. Barnard almost got through but got a corner.
Saints are in command and dominating the game, lets hope we get another before half time. Lambert having a gamble at goal now. Hammond hits the bar and Barnard puts it in but ruled off side. Saints are back to the same as they were at Norwich with the hunger to win. Constant saints presure and surely they have to score soon as there is now only one side playing
Walsall shortly have a corner that they should not of had and from this Saints just clear off the line for another corner! GOAL Saints 3-1 Barnard scored and this is just what we need, lets hope we get a lot more so we thrash someone this season ? Come on Saints!! Just before the end of the half and Lambert amost does his business with at free kick and Hammond should have finished of the rebound but saints 3-1 up at half time and other scores means that we are currently closing the gap on those in the playoffs. First Half Second half Good movement and good play but not really threattening their goal.
Saints Sub Barnard off and Papa Waigo on Much quieter game Walsall Sub Byfield off Jones on Saints Sub Jaidi off Thomas on Jones has made a difference for Walsall since he came on although Saints still pressing forward but the pace of the game has slowed down a bit. Saints Sub Lambert off Antoinio on It will be good to see Antoinio and Waigo up front and although they only have 10min together I think we might see one of them score! As we come to the end of the game we have dominated this game and with more home games than away left do we still have a chance for the play offs??? Let's see, its hard but not impossible! As Charlton did not play today and the others in the play offs with seconds to play are on either zero or one point!
4 min extra time Hammond has had several chances if only he could one away however this is the best score line for us for this season and for a while and lets hope this is a start of a great run of games!! Full Time 5-1 to SAINTS!!! Well done!! Jon |
